Paul, Nancie, John , Martha, Karen, Seiver
The top picture was taken in China Town in the early 70's. The bottom ones were in Brooklyn in 1971 class trip
I remember a trip to NYC to the Whitney and also to MOMA. The bus stopped in Yonkers, where a lot of alcohol was purchased. Rick Cone was one of the first to finish off his bottle, with a flourish. Bert Syms led a tribal chant, (Linda Stiller really got into it) we hit a couple of bars once in the city, and ended up looking at Pavel Tchelichov's "Hide and Seek" and Dali's "The Persistence of Memory".
Oh yeah we went to the Guggenheim museum, saw Francis Picabia. Everyone was impressed by the small permanant collection including van Goghs and other biggies.
I rmember all that too. I remember some of us wandered off the 42nd street and almost got robbed. I certainly remember the Bacardi. I remember Bob considering taking the Dali. I also recall him wanting to injest some of the pelling paint off a Van Gogh. Something about getting the artists work inside him. We discouraged him by saying they used lead in the paint in those days and he would get poisoned... That wasn't Stephen's girlfriend. She was a RISD student from New York. A reallyy talented metal artist. I am trying to remember her name. The girl on the right is an artist from Glouster.
Arruda looks like Ozzie Osborne. Seaver like Tom Wolfe.
ReplyDeleteIs that Huntington Ave in the Background?
In the top picture are two RISD students, both great artists. This in front of the Bo Shek restaurant.

ReplyDeleteBob, What a memory. That trip was a blur to me.

There is a certain flavor to cadmium red too, and lead white has always been a favorite. But thank-you for guiding me away from possible poisoning.
ReplyDeleteWe replaced the Dali with a print from the gift shop. Nobody has noticed.
I thought so. Where did you stash it?
